If you are a (still) proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S2
which has so far sold a whopping 40 million units worldwide, then here is some
bit of good news to tide you over till February before you decide to make a
smartphone purchase upgrade. The long awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
update will be making its way to the Samsung Galaxy S2, at least according to a
Samsung spokesperson. Apparently, Samsung Galaxy S2 owners living in Singapore
will be the first ones to receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update sometime in
February. Better late than never, no?
Apparently, one will be able to download the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update
via Samsung KIES, but it will not be made available Over-The-Air (OTA). Not
only that, it will also “eat up” 1GB of the 12GB of available internal memory
on your Galaxy S2, leaving you with just 11GB to play with after the Jelly Bean
update is installed.
There will definitely be a fair number of new features that accompanies the
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, including Smart Stay that helps keep the display
on whenever it detects just when a human is looking at the display.
A leaked version of the official update is also floating somewhere around
the Internet, but you would need to have a reasonable grasp of the Korean
language if you want to give it a shot - either that or you have a really large
appetite for risk.
February cannot come soon enough for Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, don't you
think so?
